I use the Current Report functions to get data in many areas including Client Spend, Product Income & ROI using Current reports. As far as the structure goes it's fairly good as a basic tool but I feel it could go much, much further. There are also several niggles that I want to draw attention to:

    ISSUE 1

If I want to get a report on the income of a product over a year it's fairly accurate, but as you zoom in to, for example, Quarters, Current Reporting starts returning false information. the reason? How it classifies the date of income.

Current have told me that the system reads an income addition ON THE DATE OF INVOICE. Whilst I can see that this makes literal sense (thought it would be more literal if it added income on the date of payment) I don't really care too much about when something is billed as it moght be months in advance of a job. What I want to know is information that will enable me to predict future demand so could there not be an option to get income, no of hires for a product etc in a given period based on WHEN THE EQUIPMENT IS ACTUALLY OUT OF THE BUILDING?

If I want to know how many Robe Pointes went out in September I can't easily find that information. I can find out how many Robe Pointes were INVOICED in September but that's not really a great deal of use to me if I'm trying to predict next year's demand.

    ISSUE 2

I suspect that Product X is not going out much at weekends. Perhaps I can pitch the possibility of discounting this class of product over weekends but my boss wants to see the numbers. At present I can't see a way of doing this other than using the Product availability screen and laboriously scrolling through availability

How difficult would it be to introduce criteria that showed max availability over a chosen period? During weekend vs during week for 2016, for example, for a range of products. For all loudspeakers? Or for all Lighting products over Hire cost per day of £x?

If I want to know max availability for a given product 01-2016 to 012-2017 I can't find that quickly and easily. On how many occasions was everything out? With this information I could determine whether we have overstocked a product; I could also use this information to decide on how many items of a similar class to purchase next year.

    ISSUE 3

I want two-tier information reports, or perhaps multi-module reports: How much did company X spend on staging last year? How much on smoke fluid? How much on both in each quarter? Who spent the most on lighting? Who spent the most on audio? Who spent the most on d&b audio? Can't see that there's any way to do this at the moment (other than a predictably laborious one) but the really irritating thing about this, and all the other issues is that THE INFORMATION IS IN THERE, it's just that an interface is needed to extract it.

Whilst not the same as our price lock function, you can now toggle the ‘discountable’ slider when creating or editing a service to set it as not discountable. This prevents you discounting a service on an opportunity, or setting a price that’s lower than the rate you have set up on it.

I think that the "Reset Group..." functionality pretty much takes care of this now

    Apply Global
    Reset Crew
    Reset Transport

Thanks for the suggestion, we’re keeping an eye on the number of votes :)

I understand that this idea is about allowing you to complete (finalize check-in) items individually once they’ve been checked-in, but just to clarify for anyone who might not know:

When you finalize check-in, everything with the status ‘Checked in’ is marked as ‘Completed’ and will be returned to availability or moved to the quarantine based on the “Return at” date you specify on the finalize check-in screen (plus any post-rent unavailability on the product).

To have some items return to availability before others, you can check-in just the items you want to return and then finalize check-in. Choose the date you’d like them to return at on the finalize check-in screen. Any items that are still reserved, allocated, prepped, or booked out will remain on rent on that opportunity.

Thanks for the response, Michael. Your suggestion is one we use a lot when items are missing from a return, but as you remarked it does not address the key issue which is that check-in and finalisation does not take into account a de-prep stage, something that I'm sure the majority of us do.

Trying to incorporate your suggestion into warehouse workflow simply wouldn't work. Part check-in would be too time-consuming and would not address the situation of last-minute orders that need to be fulfilled from stock at the de-prep stage (we get a lot of these due to our Central London location)

default times are essential. For deliveries and collections we offer an AM or PM slot with timed delivery as extra (like a courier company). Could this be an additional option? The timings option is very clunky atm

This kind of links in with my idea here

    http://help.current-rms.com/forums/257191-customer-wishlist/suggestions/14841135-complete-by-item-rather-than-by-job

the ability to be able to de-prep/finalize and move a product straight onto a fresh job would be a great help

We’ve launched our open API as a beta. This gives you the possibility to develop exciting integrations between Current RMS and other applications or systems.

If you have development experience or a developer on your team, start using our API by heading to System Setup > Integrations > API. Here you’ll be able to generate your first API key and access our comprehensive developer documentation.

At the moment, the API can’t be used to create opportunities at enquiry stage, but the checkout method is exposed which you can use to create a draft opportunity with items.

You can use the Markdown filter on any output liquid syntax in your document layouts to format your text. Markdown lets you format things using easy-to-read plain text. For example, if you put a markdown filter on your item description, e.g. {{ item.description | markdown }}, you can type in bold, italics, and even add images hosted on the internet.

This page runs through how to use Markdown in a little more detail: https://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax

If you’d like a hand modifying your layouts to incorporate Markdown, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help.
