I am not sure if I have missed a component here that is already in the software however I would like to see integration (maybe linked into the Quarantine section) for testing and maintenance of equipment. Currently, I add custom fields for PAT/LOLER testing to each stock level which works up to a point. However, what would be advantageous, would be a maintenance area - similar to quarantine - where all this is logged alongside each stock asset, and you get popup notifications via the Dashboard and email notifications 1 week prior to a test due date or similar. And adding the ability to enter/import all relevant PAT/LOLER/maintenance data into each asset for tracking - creating a log for each asset.
Testing and maintenance has been on our roadmap for some time and we know how important it is to rental businesses.
As well as being popular on our wishlist, it’s really popular across our customer channels so it’s something that we’re making a priority this year.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’d like from a testing module and how you’d like it to work. Please do keep commenting – it’s really useful for us!
I’ll post back as soon as I’ve any news to share. We’re excited to start work on this in due time.
Remember you can use custom fields to store testing information against your stock levels in Current and even pull through this information to opportunity documents. We’ve put together a guide that runs through how this works, check out: Record PAT or other equipment test results
I'd like to be able to put items in for regular service when not-checked out... Things such as 'change oil', 'service chains', 'change battery'.
It would be nice to be able to set this on a "per rental basis", "Hours", and "time basis".
Is there any further update on this? A beta perhaps? It’s been a while

Please do make this a priority - we are working towards ISO9001 accreditation and we need to show well-documented maintenance records - this would be an ideal solution.
Hoping this is still going to appear, we're trialling Current at the minute..
I wouldn’t hold out much hope of a response! They’ve not responded to anything here for about a year. We were hopeful too when we joined in early 2016 but the promised features don’t even appear to have been started yet.

Hi C-RMS Team,
Do you kindly have any update on when these facilities will likely be implemented?
Custom fields are great and everything but not really ideal as a fix.
The lack of a PAT/LOLER module is holding us back from moving to Current.
Constantly asked at the last minute to provide test cert for gear, currently not a problem as we are using Hiretrack with the test module (direct upload from our tester into memory) but it only lets us know gear needs retesting when scanning out rather than on return when its easy to put into the test pile.
I see a post from 22nd Dec 2017 that this is planned but it seems to be taking a long time to sort
for a while now i have been performing my test and tag using Microsoft Access as a database for all of our products and separate databases for other companies that we manage. At the end of this process i import the data into current in the relevant fields. I would love to be able to track asset and tag numbers through current. the single most import thing for me would be a batch maintenance tab. I want to be about to basically conduct it all with only scanning (no keyboard presses) with a correctly configured scanner. ie <Scan asset number> select new tag as default <Scan new tag number >. My portable appliance tester is basically pass fail so im not worried about importing any logged data but in an ideal world i would like to be able to test upwards of 1000 tags in a day.
Just a quick note, as "Custom Fields" keeps popping up here and in other discussions. Until it's possible to fill out a Custom Field in the main product page (rather than having to "Edit" the product) it is a very unwieldy way of managing things. I really would like to be able to restrict technicians ability to edit products (rates, stock types etc) whilst still allowing them to add maintenance information.

I wanted this for a while, I have ended up working with a developer to create a plugin style application to manage test and tag using current. It is nearly finished, and we hope to make it available for others to use. If you are interested, send me an email - firstname.lastname@example.org

Would love to see this feature added. I think everyone's ideas cover my thoughts but I think it would be cool to have us add it to vehicles as well. A type of "Periodic Maintenance schedule" for equipment and vehciles. To get reminders to clean the projector filters, or clean the speaker amps and for the vehciles, oil changes, tire rotation, tire pressure, etc.
Couldn't agree more Drew, we need an idea of timescales to commit to one system or another.
This is absolutely something we were promised when we subscribed over two years ago, but unfortunately we're unable to hold out any longer with our ad-hoc way of tracking all this additional information.
If this function isn't around the corner we're going to have to commit to an additional system which would be a shame but a necessary step.
Papertrail.io is a great example of how I'd like testing and inspection functionality integrated.
Testing and Inspection.
We're at that wonderful time of year again where we get stuck into PAT (testing), at the same time most of our lifting kit gets it's 6 monthly LOLER inspection and to cap it all off we have our manual handling refresher training….
So, we're all talking about inspection again. We need a way of keeping track of everything that needs periodic inspections. This ranges from the obvious (cables, lights etc.) PAT (tests) to the less obvious (First aid kits, Vehicle tyres..)
Integrating PAT records with Current has long been talked about, right back when we had our initial face-to-screen demo it was "on the roadmap" and very exciting. I'm aware that people can and are working round this by adding in Custom Fields, and manually filling in data, but realistically that's a hideous paperwork exercise. I'd be happy doing that If I was a one-man band with a hundred cables but not with an inventory our size.
Plea to the Devs… What's the current timescale for rolling out some form of better integration?
Side note, we've just had a demo of an application called "Papertrail.io". This looks to be built on the same backend web process as Current and is specifically designed for inspection record keeping, along with a task module for prompting users to "fix/replace/check" items. Its functionality would make a great template for how I'd hope to see testing integrated into Current!
We'd love not to spend a load of money with another company, I'd even go so far as to say this could be a paid addition to Current as it's such a vast expansion.
Alternative thought, are you aware of Papertrail.io? Any chance of an integration with them?

Hey, is there any further development on this idea? We've been waiting a while for this and given a large part of Current RMS is stock control, maintenance plays a HUGE part of it. For example something without a PAT test technically should be quarantined straight away for testing. However without an active reminder systems things get overlooked. Currently we test everything once a year in the down time but this is not practical as a growing business...
It would be a dream to have a reminder date for each product that requires testing or scheduled maintenance.
The ability to toggle automatic quarantine between products for this would be ideal too. I know a lot of the can be coded through custom fields with a custom report like I have done for consolidated power consumption, but that then relies on staff printing off a list every day/weel, etc.
An Idea for there to be a services module where we could offer repairs and other services to customers. For example, as well as rental and dry hire, we can also offer repairs to customers equipment, like TV screens, and speaker recones for example.
I'd like to be able to set up a new order, as a repair job, and scan the equipment serial number onto the job, enabling us to acknowledge the receipt of the damaged equipment for repair, then once repaired, be able to invoice and book the repaired equipment back out to the customer.

I personally would just like to be able to set a test date, attach files as needed and for current to give me a next test by date that I can be notified about. Is this possible ?

I can see that building a new workshop module that can incorporate certificates and integrate with PAT software may take quite a lot of work and hence has not yet been started despite being planned for 18 months.
However, could Current as a start implement a basic system that quarantines kit automatically when it needs testing and send a notification? If I can add PAT/LOLER retest dates myself using custom fields, surely this would not be that difficult?

Just been told by the admin that this isn't going to happen soon what a shame will seriously effect our choice to stay with this system as the are other out there that are more suited for this. And yes as others have said its a really really important issue that all companies using the software are going to need when renting kit.
Apparently we all need to vote for this to make a top of this list job any one else want this pushed through speak up !

we really need a feature for LOLER and PAT certificates also and agree with the comments from other users
Thank you Extreme Rigging Ltd
Hey Ian & Andy,
Thanks for taking the time to comment. We’ve yet to research any third party integrations for PAT at the moment.
In regards to sections for PAT test certs, if you’re using custom fields to store your PAT information then we can pull this through to documents from an opportunity. I’ll send you a quick email about this today :)
