Allow for planned transfers between opportunities

For example.

We own twenty lights

Ten lights are on job A. Job A ends on Monday, de-rigs on Tuesday and is back to the warehouse on Wednesday.

All twenty lights are needed for Job B. Job B rigs on Tuesday...

What we do in real life is this, the warehouse preps the ten remaining lights and sends them to site on Tuesday. We also get a courier or technician to transport the ten lights from Job A to the New Job at B...

Current shows this as a BIG CLASH and for the whole of tuesday and wednesday we appear to be ten lights short.

Also, the warehouse never get the ten lights back from Job A, caution confusion when they try to scan things back in.

What would be good would be an option on an item to say that that item specifically was going to be transferred on a given date/time to a new opportunity. You'd select the opportunity in this option as well, and it could even add it to the list for you. In availability view there would be some form of colour or visual indicator that showed the planned transfers.

Anybody else got any thoughts on this?

Planned transfers between opportunities would be a great addition to Current. Your comments here are fantastic and really help us understand why you’d like to see this added to Current and how it could work – thanks!

Across all of our customer channels, building a purchasing module is the most popular feature request so we prioritized this. Now we’ve got the first phase of purchasing released in beta, planned transfers is next up from the wishlist.

    This would be fantastic for me, Long term/contract hires never really come back into a building but have to be renewed eachmonth on current.it would save me a few Days ! of work

    Would be a great feature for us as we have had a recent run of jobs back to back where gear was jumping from one to the next.

    It took us a good hour to re-coordinate the system to eliminate shortages etc due to the size and the varying jobs different bits of kit were going onto.

    We have this same issue at our work and it makes things really confusing! Adding this as a feature would be fantastic.

    Could really benefit from this - have just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why one of our jobs is showing a shortage when there isn't one - and it's because the stock went straight from one job to another last week - so the whole thing is pink with exclamation marks even though the problem was in the past!

    This weekend was a prime example. We have a video switcher that everybody wants to use. I had to transfer it from a previous job straight to my event site, and it left in a van with a company using it on a dry hire. Never touched the warehouse once in that time for checking in and sorting out, and the opportunity dates all run into each other. I suppose I could have created three separate opportunities, just for that item of kit, so that I could manage the dates around the practicalities, but this seems like a big messy way of doing things.

    It would be much nicer to be able to say "item A is going from Job A to Job B", stop showing it as a clash" And we'd be able to have a nice printed list on site showing the transfers.

    Hope it comes to fruition soon.

    Could this idea also be adapted to a form of a roadshow or tour,

    We regularly do an event where it will be a presentation in 4 or 5 different venues on consecutive nights, This would make life a whole lot easier if we could allocate or check the gear onto the first night, and have it automatically allocate and do it for the other venues. This would save a tonne of time for us.

    If it helps, currently I am subcontracting the items to myself when there a swap over and have made a custom field detailing where its coming from. This then gets printed on all paperwork which helps. It's not ideal but with careful planning it is a temorary work around...

    Agree. This happens several times a week for us. It would be great to select some equipment from one job and transfer it to another, automatically returning it from thefirst job and preparing it and checking it out on the next job.

    We have been using current for about 6 months. And this is the one sticking point that we have not worked a good way to get around. The idea for being able to transfer a booked out selection directly to another opportunity would save a lot of headaches.

    Hi Chris,

    This idea has certainly gained a lot of traction in a short amount of time!

    We're paying close attention to the votes on this idea, but it's not in development right now as we work on ideas with the highest number of votes first. With that in mind, we're making good progress on Serialized Containers (Creating Kits/Permanent Case Assigning) and we'll be looking to start Choosing Accessories shortly. These are the top ideas right now.

    This is definitely a feature we'd use. We are doing this constantly during our busy season.

    Glad to see this is gaining some traction.

    I think there's two important concepts here:

    1) Being able to scan an item onto a new job, and automatically returning it from the previous one (single scan action, with pop up message saying "item xxx returned from JBXXX and booked out to JBXXY")

    2) Being able to plan transfers months ahead, so we can specify that item xxx is destined to never come back to the warehouse, rather it's going to get collected from one opportunity (Before the end date of the opportunity) and taken straight to another. We also would be able to print a lovely document showing the technicians at the first job what kit they need to prep. This kit would appear on both opportunity lists, but would be indicated as a transfer on the detail view of the second list, to stop the warehouse trying to find/prep it!

    50 votes as of the 13th Sept... Lets try and get some more and see if we can get this idea bumped up to review status!

    THIS!!!!! I am familiar with RentalDesk where I can scan my items out of the returning flightcase directly onto the next job. It is an ESSENTIAL feature and simply having a pop up saying "this item is already out on a job, would you like to return the item" with the ability to press enter again and allocate it. Without this feature it also means, I have fixtures supposedly in two places at one time... not cool.
